Principal's Message

Within this context, the Principal of Robert Hopkins Public School will:

Communicate Effectively

  • Establish and broadly share the school’s mission, vision and goals;
  • Commit to reporting and conducting business with transparency ;
  • Promote the merits of both the English and EFI programs;
  • Acknowledge multicultural and socio-economic sensitivities at all times;
  • Lead by example in verbal, non-verbal communications (e.g uphold Code of Conduct).


Be Accountable 

  • Make informed decisions; will not react without gathering facts, context and perspective;
  • Create a continuous organizational improvement process:
  • Align and manage budgets, time and personnel/policies/procedures with district requirements:
  • Project short and long term priorities within the context of enriching the school for all;
  • Prioritize safety and better health outcomes at all times;
  • Respect privacy. 


Foster Relationships

  • Focus on the needs of individuals as well as groups;
  • Nurture productive relationships with the Board, staff, community, parents, guardians, and children;
  • Include school-level leaders in decisions about district-wide and school-level improvements;
  • Welcome parental involvement at all levels of school activity on a daily basis;
  • Include the community-at-large in school events, as fitted;
  • Accessible after school hours for fundraising and community events ;
  • Is approachable; open door policy;
  • Actively engage all grade levels in the school.

Innovate

  • Encourage collaboration in the interpretation and uses of data;
  • Adopt existing technology and proactively address technology gaps in the school;
  • Advocate for the best available evidence to inform instructional improvements;
  • Strive for academic excellence at all times;
  • Is forward thinking and provides leadership on new and innovative directions for school initiatives; 
  • Thinks outside the box; 
  • Aligns with our “learning anywhere” philosophy.
