Principal’s Message:
Welcome to Robert Hopkins Public School, an OCDSB school located in an established residential neighborhood in Ottawa. It has served families in the community since it was built in 1971. We are a Kindergarten to Grade 5, dual track English and Early French Immersion School, with roughly 340 students. Those who enter our school feel the warm and welcoming environment. Our team believes that all children come to school to do their best and to learn, we are here to support, care for and guide them.
At Robert Hopkins we work to build and strengthen relationships through positive interactions rooted in celebrating diversity and inclusion. We thrive to create an environment where everyone feels safe to be themselves, make mistakes, innovate and be creative. Through this our students and families will know that they belong because their voices will be heard and their identities seen. We see our students represented throughout the school and during instruction as we work collaboratively to inspire our students through culturally relevant and engaging instruction.
Robert Hopkins has a long tradition of active parent involvement. Parents enrich the learning environment by volunteering at school events, engaging in school community fundraising initiatives, supporting extra curricular activities, and actively participating with the School Council.
At Robert Hopkins we believe that our children should feel that parents and teachers are partners. Research clearly shows that students whose parents take an active role in their child's education are most likely to succeed. We look forward to working with you in order to help your children become the best they can be.
In our open concept school, we have the privilege of greeting students daily and taking pride in their accomplishments. We visit their classrooms to engage with them in their learning and are excited to chat with students and teachers when we see them to hear about all that is going on both at school and at home. We are proud and happy to be your Principal and Vice-Principal.
